Fall in love with Fruit Infused Water

Image
Some of us may have early childhood memories of our parents making us eat foods that we weren’t particularly fond of as children, but were nutrient dense (veggies, for example!) and essential for optimal development. As adults, some of us even struggle to do something as simple as drinking water. We love that it’s refreshing but may not be fond of the bland taste.  Whether it’s the lack of flavor, or just not reaching for the water bottle often enough, many individuals struggle to reach their recommended daily water intake. Water is essential to all life and has countless benefits down to a cellular level. However, sometimes   the facts are still not enough to make some interested in drinking enough water. Fruit infused water is a great alternative for those that want to increase daily water intake, and add a natural kick of flavor to water, while enjoying the additional benefits and antioxidants.  Here are some delicious and thirst-quenching fruit infused water combinations

Wine And Weight Loss

Image
What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of having a glass of wine? Is it the taste, how relaxed it makes you feel, or the fact that it provides greater health benefits than other types of alcohol? We all have our reasons for drinking wine and the good news is that you can still enjoy alcohol, even when dieting.  If you are in the midst of a diet and choose to enjoy an alcoholic beverage, wine can be a good option. If your goal is to lose weight, it is important to be mindful of the type of wine you indulge in, as sugar content can vary among types. Dry wine is best for weight loss as it contains less sugars, is lower in calories and carbohydrates than sweeter wines. Champagne may also be a good option, as it is sparkling, refreshing and lower in calories. Champagne is also a popular choice for special occasions, so people don’t tend to drink it as often. Here is a list of some of the best wines (low in sugar!) that you can enjoy during your weight loss journey: 1)

2020

Image
We're not even 6 months into 2020 yet so much has happened. This year, humanity has learned a lot about Covid-19, and many of us have had to adjust our daily lives  to deal with the consequences. For many, it hasn't been an easy adjustment, though it has hit home for a lot of us in many ways. In the midst of a pandemic, people all over the world have experienced a plethora of emotions such as fear, anxiety and sadness. Covid-19 has also turned out to be the great equalizer because it does not discriminate. It doesn't care about your social status, race, creed, color or appearance. This brings me to the concept of unity. In addition to Covid-19, we watch thousands of people protesting and coming together in the streets around the globe. People of all ethnic backgrounds are fighting against social injustice, systemic racism and police brutality. Voices are being heard amongst a sea of signs denouncing racism, injustice and supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. One s

You deserve to be happy

Image
Sheltering in place during this pandemic has given most of us more time with our loved ones. Some couples have found that this has given them time to reconnect and become close all over again. It has enriched their sex lives, improved their communication and increased their family time, blossoming the relationship. While some relationships have flourished, others may have realized how much they really didn't know one another and how the time that they were spending apart may have actually been the only thing that was keeping them together. This time serves as a great opportunity for self reflection and self realization. It's a time to slow down, prioritize and reflect upon any necessary changes that you want to make in your life, moving forward. Are you really happy in your relationship? Are you really where you want to be? If the answer to both of those questions is “ yes ” then that's great! However, if your answer was “ yes, but …” or “ no ” then you may need

Protecting ourselves the natural way

Image
Healthy habits and self care has always been important, but as our nation and the rest of the world is grappling with the spread of Covid19 everyone is longing for a solution, a cure, a vaccine. Many companies are working towards that, but we need to focus on what we can do to protect ourselves and our families in the mean time.    The first line of defense is having a strong immune system. Covid19 is very infectious; so one of the first things that I did when I learned that was to head straight to the natural food store. I loaded up on vitamins and supplements to boost my immune system, and I also got some organic and raw produce. I know that some health food stores can have pricey products, but I found a lot of affordable options and I just bought smaller quantities of the more expensive items that I wanted. Here are some natural ways to boost your immune system: 1.) Sleep well (Sleep atleast 6 to 8 hours a day. Getting good rest can improve how your body fights illnesse

Quarantine Time

Image
The one thing that I know about survival is that we all have the ability to do it. It's an instinct, something that's ingrained in us. Some people have to really reach within to do it, but for others they go into survival mode quickly. Now we are all in quarantine being put to the ultimate test. This Pandemic seems to have put a pause on the world, but it hasn't completely put a pause on our lives. This wasn't in any of our plans and it's inconvenient and negative, but have you stopped to think about how you might really come out of this? Why not take the opportunity to change your thinking and focus on the positive? Here are a few questions to ask yourself! 1.) What are the things that matter the most to me? 2.) Have I been making enough time for the things in my life that matter the most? 3.) Has this time in quarantine given me any clarity in my life? 4.) What have I learned from this experience that might add value to my life? 5.) How can I

Expand Your Horizons

Image
One of the best and most fulfilling things that a person can do in their life is travel. We live in a world that is so vast and beautiful, with so much out there to see. It's easy to get caught up in every day living and responsibilities such as working full time, raising kids, paying bills, being a student and or just chasing whatever dreams and goals we have. There can be so many priorities in the life of a busy person. One thing to never forget is the importance of expanding your horizons through travel so you can see and learn new things. As humans we're intrigued by adventure, and our curiosity leads us to wonder about and discover new things. It's great to take care of the home front and handle your business but challenge yourself to travel more and see more. I know that when we think of traveling we think of how expensive it can be  (especially for a family) between flight tickets, baggage fees, hotel accommodations and the time that we're taking off of work
